Where? Position Words Level 2 moves children beyond where things are to how things move. Each card shows an action and a sentence with the position word highlighted: "The boy is walking across the road.", "The train is going through the tunnel." Each of the 15 position words appears on two cards, in two different scenes, so children practise it more than once. Children learn to combine position words with verbs, which they need to describe movement, follow more complex instructions and tell stories.

From "where" to "which way"
Level 1 teaches where something is: "The boy is under the table." Level 2 teaches how something moves: "The boy is walking across the road." Movement words always go with a verb, so children practise longer sentences that join an action and a direction. That same language turns up in classroom instructions, PE, stories, and early maths and science.
Seeing each word in two different scenes shows children that "through" or "across" describes the movement, not the particular picture, so they can use the word in new situations.
How the audio works
- Go to chatterbugs.app and enter the code from your box.
- Choose a language.
- Enter the card number to hear the sentence.
In the app you can slow the audio down, replay the sentence, and record your own voice as the model. Audio plays online, so you'll need an internet connection.
How to use the cards
- Cover the sentence. Show the picture and ask, "Which way is the train going?"
- Let them try. Accept a short answer first ("tunnel"), then build it up.
- Read it together. Uncover the sentence or play the audio.
- Find the pair. Look for the other card with the same position word and compare the two scenes.
- Move it. Act it out with a toy car: across the table, through a box tunnel, up a cushion. Then give directions: "Walk across the room, then go through the door."
