Adjectives in Sentences helps children move from knowing describing words to using them in sentences. Each card shows one scene where a person and the monkey show opposite describing words, with a sentence for each: "The boy caught a big fish. The monkey caught a little fish." Seeing the two words side by side makes each meaning clear. The cards start with simple sentences and move on to more complex sentence forms.

How the cards work
Each scene shows the same situation twice: once with a person and once with the monkey. The only difference is the describing word.
Example: card 1
- The boy caught a big fish.
- The monkey caught a little fish.
Because everything else in the sentence stays the same, children can see exactly what the describing word adds. Later cards place describing words in different positions ("The man's drink is hot", "A colourful butterfly landed on the girl"), building the flexibility children need for longer sentences.
How the audio works
- Go to chatterbugs.app and enter the code from your box.
- Choose a language.
- Scan the QR code on any card, or enter its number, to hear both sentences.
In the app you can slow the audio down, replay either sentence, and record your own voice as the model. Audio plays online, so you'll need an internet connection.
How to use the cards
- Spot the difference. Ask, "What's different about the boy's fish and the monkey's fish?"
- Listen and repeat. Play each sentence and say it together.
- Swap the words. Ask what would happen if the monkey caught the big fish, and say the new sentence.
- Describe something real. Find two things at home that differ the same way: "Your cup is hot. My cup is cold."
- Write it. Older children can copy a sentence onto the back, or write their own.

What age is it for?
4 years and up. It also suits older children who rarely use describing words in their sentences.
How many sentences are there?
60: two on each of the 30 cards, each using one of a pair of opposite describing words.
Why does each card show opposites?
Seeing "big" and "little" in otherwise identical sentences makes the meaning of each word clear and shows how one word changes a sentence.
